Shamsullah's story

Afghan Resettlement Project

"USPUK helped me realise that I can travel freely, even though my BRP had expired." – Shamsullah, ARAP case holder.

At USPUK, we strive to support the resettlement process for Afghans by providing clear, accurate information to individuals facing challenges.

Shamsullah, an ARAP case holder, has been living in the UK for the last three years. He recently received an update from USPUK regarding the government's decision to digitise immigration documents. However, as he planned to travel outside the UK, he became confused about whether he could return. Someone had incorrectly advised him not to leave because his Biometric Residence Permit (BRP) had expired, suggesting that the UK government might not allow him to return.

Concerned about this, Shamsullah turned to USPUK for advice. After reviewing the government's decision, we reassured him that his BRP is still valid until the end of 2024. This meant he could safely travel out of and return to the UK without any issues. We also informed him that he simply needs to wait for an email from the Home Office, which will instruct him to create an account and generate his digital immigration documents, linking them online.

Shamsullah was relieved and grateful for the accurate guidance, appreciating USPUK's support in navigating this complex situation.

At USPUK, we continue to assist individuals facing difficulties with resettlement in the UK. Our services offer crucial information and direct support, helping people overcome obstacles and ensuring they can access the resources they need.
