Victoria’s journey to the UK

Lidumyla with her hosts

In Victoria’s Own Words

"I am from Kremenchuk, and my daughter and I lived in constant fear because of the frequent missile attacks on our city. There were regular power and water outages, and for a long time, the kindergarten was closed. It only reopened after the New Year in 2024. The children were always frightened, having to hide in shelters whenever the sirens went off. It became clear to me that I needed to find a safer place for my daughter and myself.

USPUK’s team of Nadiia and Valeriia were always in touch and helped me with all the paperwork and questions I had. They answered and assisted me whenever I needed help, and I’m so grateful for that, especially since this was my first time making such a long journey with my little girl. Everything happened very quickly. I was contacted in April 2024, and by May, we were already in the UK. Our visa was granted swiftly, within just a few weeks (on May 1st, 2024).

We now live with the sponsor family who welcomed us. They are wonderful people who continue to support us with documents and other matters. Thanks to their kindness and the incredible help from USPUK, my daughter and I finally feel safe."

Would Like to Become a Host?

At USPUK, we assist not only Ukrainian families on their journey but also the hosts who decide to join our sponsorship programme. From the moment they register with us, throughout the hosting experience, and until the Ukrainian family is ready to leave the sponsor's home, we are there to support both parties.

Thanks to the generosity of our sponsors and the dedication of USPUK's Ukrainian Sponsorship Project team, families like Victoria's have been given a chance to rebuild their lives in safety.

If you'd like to get involved or want more information about our Ukrainian Sponsorship Project, you can find out more on our website in the Become a Host section.
